Episode 90: AJ Lee, Please Don’t Go

Hiya!

Last week, I talked about CM Punk’s second appearance on the Colt Cabana podcast. This time, I’d like to talk about his wife, AJ Lee. Even though I already talked about her before, I do think I have to discuss her current state in the WWE. At the least, her rumored status in the company.

I don’t claim to be a huge wrestling fan that goes around to different wrestling sites to dig up the backstage news or spoilers. But I do look up some the things regarding my favorite wrestlers. And, since my absolute favorite wrestlers are actually CM Punk and AJ Lee, I was a bit giddy to find out the two were actually married!

Together...

Together…

After the release of CM Punk’s infamous podcast, I already had a funny feeling that AJ Lee wasn’t going to win back the Divas title in TLC. In fact, I was positive. Although I have no idea what was the actual impact of the podcast on AJ Lee’s career (if any at all), I do feel that WWE management can hold a grudge. So, yes, after TLC, AJ Lee didn’t win back the title. And to make matters worse, she was blinded by some kind of spray from one of the Bellas.

After TLC, it was announced that AJ Lee will be out with an injury. Is it going to be like Punk’s “sabbatical”? I sure hope not!

I’m going to try not to crap all over the Brie and Nikki, the Bella Twins, but I just don’t find them entertaining as wrestlers. A big part of wrestling from my point of view is the way they talk. When wrestlers speak, they have to make whatever they say believable. Whether it be during an interview or a rant, the viewer has to believe whatever they’re saying. And I don’t get it from either Brie or Nikki.

On the other hand, AJ just manages to sound like a real person and not just someone who’s memorized a script. I guess that’s because she does go off script a lot! I mean, take a look at her acceptance speech when she (deservedly) won the Diva of the Year during last year’s Slammy Awards.

I also do have to say that during 2012 to 2013, she was my primary reason for watching the WWE. That’s because, well, she was the focus of pretty much all of the interesting storylines during this period! You also had her become the Raw General Manager for a time. You had the “affair” with John Cena and Dolph Ziggler. There was the “crazy chick” storyline as well! I also would be remiss if I didn’t mention becoming the longest running Divas champion of all time! That’s definitely a highlight! And her entire run is made more spectacular by her petite size!

Of course, my favorite definitely had to be the entire Daniel Bryan-Kane-CM Punk love… quadrangle? Well, whatever geometric shape it was, it was definitely entertaining! This was a time when I thought wrestling had become just so predictable and nothing could surprise me. Well, AJ Lee’s antics proved me wrong!

I do feel that AJ Lee’s days in the WWE are numbered. The Bella Twins probably have lots of pull backstage because they’re a part of Total Divas and their involvement with two of the two guys on the roster. Also, there doesn’t seem to be anyone right now that can hold a candle to AJ Lee as the best Diva on the roster… and that includes the more experienced Bella Twins.

So please don’t leave the WWE just yet, AJ Lee. You’re still the best Diva out there… that is, until Paige gets better with her mic work. No offense… but I do hope she’s ready to be the big dog of the Divas division when you’re ready for retirement. But that’s a long time from now, right?

Well, I’ve been talking about wrestling for a few weeks so I’m going to reveal something to you about wrestling… it’s all fake! But I don’t care, I still love it! And I’ll tell you more about it next time!\

Byee!

Who’s your favorite Diva in the WWE right now? Is it any of the Total Divas? Or do you think some of the more unknown ones deserve to be in the spotlight more? Let me know in the comments section below!
