Hiya!

So, I was supposed to write about the Total Divas this week but I just couldn’t look at other WWE Divas right now as I am in mourning. The career of one of my favorite wrestlers of all time met its untimely end last week. Sadly, AJ Lee has retired from in-ring competition.

Farewell, champ!

I honestly was kind of depressed when I first heard the news from my brother when the WWE announced that AJ Lee was retiring. In fact, I didn’t believe it! I thought it was just some horrible April Fool’s joke that they forgot to take down. After all, it was just a couple of weeks after her Wrestlemania win! How could she retire all of a sudden? But, now that the week has come and gone, it appears it’s official: AJ Lee is actually gone from the world of wrestling.

It’s kind of poetic actually that, earlier last year, I made a plea for her not to leave the world of wrestling; she didn’t read my heartfelt appeal, I guess. I also written a post way, way long ago as to why she’s my favorite female wrestler as well. So what is there left for me to write about? Well, the only thing left for me to write is for me to write about is my hopes for her in the future. She probably won’t read it, though. I think of it more of an outlet for me to express my thoughts and feelings on the matter.

I do hope her relationship with the WWE is still in good standing. However, this is probably not the case. From what I’ve read, she left active in-ring activities in part of a WWE doctor suing CM Punk. I sort of expected this to happen. Ever since CM Punk came clean regarding his experience in the company, I was pretty sure AJ Lee was going to leave.

I also don’t think she’s in good terms with a lot of the veteran Divas in the locker room. I do think she’s friendly with a lot of the younger Divas on the roster, though. She did give shoutouts to most of the NXT Divas (Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Bayley, Emma and Paige) during her acceptance speech for the 2014 Diva of the Year. At the same time, this is pretty much a diss on the most of the current Diva’s roster. But, then again, she already dissed them publicly when she dropped that wonderful “pipe bombshell” against the Total Divas! CM Punk must’ve been really proud!

And, honestly, this is the biggest reason why I’m going to miss AJ Lee. She was radically different from the rest of the Divas on the main roster! With the exception of Paige, she kept things fresh all the time. From being the innocent waif starting out on NXT Season 3, she’s blossomed into different roles. She was a Geek Goddess. She was dated various wrestlers. She became RAW General Manager. She was the longest reigning Divas champion in recent memory. She was constantly changing… no, AJ Lee constantly evolved.

While I highly doubt she’ll ever be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in the future because of all the politicking backstage and probably all of the hate she’s garnered throughout her tenure, AJ Lee definitely deserves to be in there among the greats. She should join the likes of Trish Stratus, Sensational Sherri and her idol, Lita in the WWE Hall of Fame.

Not now, of course. She still has time to make a comeback… hopefully. And I know I’ll be eagerly awaiting her return to the ring!

Okay, let me wipe the tears from my eyes. Next week, I’ll try to write about the Total Divas again.
