With Wrestlemania 37 happening over the weekend, well, let’s just say I know exactly what I’ll be writing about next week. Like last year, the WWE laid out this year’s Showcase of the Immortals over Saturday and Sunday, spacing the scheduled 12 matches over those 2 days. There’s going to be a lot to talk about so I’ll probably be using my Robin’s Adventures slot to check out the Saturday card and using the I’ll Review Anything post to review the Sunday matches. It’s going to be a big weekend for me, to say the least!
This does lead me to this week, though. I’ve tried my hand in making predictions for Wrestlemania in the past but I’ve never really put them out into the public. I usually just did them either in my head or while discussing them with my friends who love to sports entertainment scene. This year, I though I would put my money where my mouth is and write about my predictions for the upcoming Wrestlemania! Here we go!
Bianca Belair will beat Sasha Banks and become the NEW Smackdown Women’s Champion
As much as I love Sasha Banks, I do think the odds favor Bianca Belair taking the Smackdown Women’s Championship off The Boss and Wrestlemania. There’s still a chance Banks can eke out a win by doing some dirty shenanigans behind the official’s back or even intentionally disqualifying herself to keep the belt. However, I have a feeling The EST of the WWE will manage to get the pinfall victory.
Choosing between the two was actually difficult. I think it would be rather cruel if the WWE forces Sasha Banks to lose at Wrestlemania again as she’s never won on The Show of Shows ever since she debuted on the main roster! Even so, I think pushing Bianca Belair to the top position on Smackdown would not only benefit her but may even help The Boss if they can make this a long lived feud.
Drew McIntyre will get the pinfall victory over Bobby Lashley to regain his WWE Heavyweight Championship
I have nothing against Bobby Lashley as I think he’s a good performer. He definitely has enough charisma, especially since he aligned himself with MVP and the Hurt Business to carry the WWE Heavyweight Belt. However, it’s kind of obvious he was in the best position to relieve McIntyre of the belt so he can regain the championship at this year’s Wrestlemania.
I’ve always thought it was sad that Drew McIntye capturing the WWE Heavyweight Championship at last year’s Wrestlemania over Brock Lesnar in an empty stadium. This was supposed to be the Scottish Warrior’s big night as he was going to claim the biggest prize of the RAW show. With this year’s Wrestlemania actually letting people in the stands, it only reasons for the WWE to give Drew his moment once again but with a live audience cheering him on.
Bad Bunny will get the pinfall victory over The Miz
I honestly can’t think of a celebrity who was part of the official Wrestlemania card and actually lost off the top of my head. From Mr. T to Lawrence Taylor all the way to Floyd Mayweather, none of them have lost their match. So you’re telling me Bad Bunny, who has no wrestling training, has a match at Wrestlemania? Well, it’s obvious Bad Bunny’s going to win! Honestly, I’d be surprised if The Miz won, even via cheating or Damien Priest turning on Bad Bunny. It’s highly unlikely, though.
AJ Styles and Omos will take the RAW Tag Team Championship belts off The New Day (Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston)
Once again, it pains me to make this choice because, even though the New Day doesn’t feel the same without Big E, I still like the team. However, it simply makes a whole lot of sense for AJ Styles and Omos to become the RAW Tag Team Champions at Wrestlemania. The main reason is Omos.
The WWE is pushing Omos to be this big, unstoppable monster so making him lose at Wrestlemania would seem like the wrong thing to do. I don’t see AJ Styles losing, causing Omos to assault The Phenomenal One in a fit of rage as it would be a bad idea; Styles has been doing a good job at getting Omos over. They can save him from looking weak if Styles tags himself in to capitalize on the havoc Omos caused only for Styles to get rolled up and the New Day steal a win. In the long term, I think it would better serve Omos to deliver an outstanding performance and take the belts almost singlehandedly.
Braun Strowman will beat the odds and defeat Shane McMahon
The title may look weird as Braun Strowman is way bigger than Shane McMahon. However, you know Shane will have a few tricks up his sleeve in this steel cage match and somehow get people like Elias or even the other WWE Superstars who Braun has fought over the years to help him out in the match. Even with all of that, I still think Braun Strowman will get the victory but not by pinfall but by busting out of the cage. Yes, I said “bust” not “escape.” If there was a time to focus on The Monster Among Men’s strength and power, it would be during a steel cage mach.
I can see the finish with Shane McMahon trying to climb out of the cage but Strowman kicks down the side of the steel cage or tears it off its hinges, giving him the space to get out of the ring before Shane does. That’s my prediction so, if it happens, just call me a wrestling genius!
Cesaro will get the pinfall victory over Seth Rollins with a little help from his friend
It may seem like insanity for me to pick Seth Rollins, one of Smackdown’s biggest names, to lose against someone the WWE had perennially been a mid-carder for most of his career. There is something within me, however, that feels Cesaro is due a big win, especially with other promotions, like AEW, snapping up WWE talent here and there. I feel the WWE is using this to kind of appease Cesaro and prevent him from jumping ship and what better way to do that than giving him a win on The Grandest Stage of Them All?
It’s not going to be a clean win, however. Seth Rollins didn’t just feud with Cesaro. He also has locked horns with Shinusuke Nakamura, the very man he fought at Fastlane. I can definitely see Nakamura distracting Rollins, allowing Cesaro to perform some fantastic move to get the pinfall victory. On a side note, this has the potential to be the “match of the night” thanks to the caliber of talent featured in this match.
Roman Reigns will walk out of Wrestlemania 37 with the WWE Universal Championship over Daniel Bryan and Edge
I don’t think this is how the WWE planned this out. They expected Edge to get much more hype for his match against Roman Reigns after his Royal Rumble victory. I guess they felt they needed to spice things up. Hence, the addition of Daniel Bryan. This might hint at a Bryan victory as he would be the underdog but I just don’t see it. What I do see is Roman Reigns stealing a win to retain the WWE Universal Championship.
Putting the belt on Bryan now would be a mistake as he’s doing a good job at being a heel champion. I also don’t see Edge becoming the top guy of Smackdown a good idea either. What I do see is Bryan and Edge getting into a feud after Wrestlemania. Maybe Bryan gets Edge to pass out to the Yes Lock but Reigns sneaks in and clocks Bryan from behind to steal the pinfall victory. This would lead into Edge blaming Bryan for taking away his Wrestlemania dream as, if he wasn’t in the match, he would have beat Reigns clean. That would be the story moving forward but this does mean Roman Reigns will retain at Wrestlemania.
Rhea Ripley is ready for Asuka and becomes the RAW Women’s Champion
I’ll be blunt and say I don’t care for Rhea Ripley. I get she has a certain look and appeal but the character just doesn’t work for me. Even with this strong bias, I think Ripley will manage to get the pinfall victory over Asuka at Wrestlemania to become the RAW Women’s Champion. I may not like it but that’s just the way I see it.
A lot of it stems from two reasons. The first being Ripley lost her NXT Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania last year to Charlotte Flair. As she was hurried up to the main roster just a few weeks ago, this does mean she’s supposed to get a push, which means there’s a good chance she’ll get it by beating Asuka. Also, Asuka’s record at Wrestlemania hasn’t been all that great. Like Sasha Banks, she has yet to actually win at The Showcase of the Immortals, meaning she’s more than willing to lose for a good story. Making the rookie Rhea Ripley become the RAW Women’s Champion at Wrestlemania is definitely a good story to tell.
The Fiend will have a crazy win over Randy Orton
This is supposed to be a plain and simple singles match but I have a crazy suspicion The Fiend and Randy Orton will put on a cinematic match without anyone knowing. I’m not sure how it would work. Maybe some crazy thing will happen and they’ll be teleported to the Firefly Funhouse or Alexa’s Playground or a combination of both and have a brawl there. In the end, The Fiend will get the “win” over The Viper.
I do hope Alexa Bliss gets involved in the match somehow and, if it does become a cinematic match (which it will because I predicted it), there are so many things she could do that should be incredibly fun. She won’t be involved directly but maybe they could delve into Orton’s past with Alexa doing the narration or something like that. This would be much better than having the cheerful Bray Wyatt do it.
Apollo Crews disqualifies himself against Big E in the Nigerian Drum Match
What’s a Nigerian Drum Match? Well, it does seem like a No Disqualification match as the only thing we know about is you beat the guy like a drum, meaning you really pound on him. I could be wrong but that’s what it seems.
So why am I saying the result of the match will be a disqualification victory for Big E? That’s because I bet the WWE doesn’t even know what a Nigerian Drum Match is yet! I bet it’ll be more like a lumberjack match where the ring is surrounded by people beating on drums during the match and that’s it. It won’t be anything special and Apollo Crews will eventually snap and use one of the drums as a weapon, resulting in a disqualification and leaving the fans dumbfounded as to why the WWE thought this was a good idea.
Kevin Owens will beat Sami Zayn with Logan Paul’s help
Regardless of his reputation, I do respect the hustle of Logan Paul. He was just another YouTuber who managed to find success and become a big name. This is why I believe he’ll be heavily involved in the Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn match but not in the way it’s billed. I believe he’ll turn on Sami Zayn in some way, leading to Kevin Owens getting the victory.
I’m not sure on how it’ll go exactly. I don’t see the usual story of Sami Zayn endlessly berating Logan and Logan just snapping. I’m betting it’ll be more like Logan Paul has been in Kevin Owen’s corner all this time, ala Mike Tyson being in Stone Cold Steve Austin’s corner instead of DX in Wrestlemania 14. That would make more sense.
That won’t save Logan Paul from eating a stunner from Kevin Owens afterwards, though.
Sheamus will beat Riddle to become the next United States Champion
I love the push the WWE has been giving Riddle for the past few months, going to the extent of making him the United States Champion. However, I also believe Sheamus is due for another title reign soon, which is why, despite my love for the Original Bro, I just feel he’s going to be felled by Sheamus’ Brough Kick at Wrestlemania.
This won’t be the end of Riddle, though. I actually expect him to regain the United States title shortly after Wrestlemania. Heck, he might even get it back the next night after The Show of Shows, making Sheamus a transitional champion! I just kind of expect this to become a longer feud with 50/50 booking.
Lana and Naomi wins the Tag Team Turmoil match… only to lose to Shayna Bazzler and Nia Jax
I’m only saying Lana and Naomi will win the Tag Team Turmoil match on Day 1 of Wrestlemania because of Lana’s long running feud with the current Women’s Tag Team Champions. There’s still a good chance her team will come out on top. However, I can’t really see them letting Nia Jax and Shayna Bazzler give up the straps just yet.
