Burger Month 2026: Hungry Burgz’s Hungry Burgz Double Burger with Sisig Fries

Hello all! And welcome to 2026’s Burger Month! It’s kind of hard to believe that I’ve been doing this for over a decade now. Not that I don’t mind, of course. After all, I love eating burgers and devoting an entire month to just reviewing various burgers all around the city has been very eye opening for me. The Philippines, and Metro Manila in general, does have a lot of smaller burger places scattered throughout the area. And, if I’m being honest, there are some really good finds if you’re willing to go out of your way.

Now, as I have been doing this for a long time, I’ve learned to do a lot of preparation for this. I actually do some “advanced scouting” for this monthly event, so to speak. I go through various websites and see what people are saying are their favorite burger places in the city. However, sometimes, I like to take the plunge and visit burger places I find interesting. This week is one of those instances as, for this week’s entry for Burger Month, I’m going to talk about a place in the Mandaluyong area called Hungry Burgz.

Hungry Burgz’s storefront isn’t all that big. It’s a very modest location as it’s pretty small. The indoor portion is pretty much the kitchen with stools and a hanging counter area for those who would prefer to eat inside. The “main” dining location is located outside. They do have umbrellas to shade you from the brutal summer heat and when it rains. That’s not a ding to the place. In fact, I appreciate Hungry Burgz being practical about their setup and making do with the limited space they have. Besides, what really matters if their burgers are good, right?

You can also get coffee from the coffee shop next door.

Although it’s called Hungry Burgz, they have more than just “burgz” on their menu. They have things like sausages, wraps and pulled pork adobo as well as rice meals just in case you’re that kind of person. They also have bulk order meals for preorder as well as tomahawk steaks! While that’s nice and all, I’m just here for the burger.

When it came to their burger selection, they essentially only have two kinds of burgers: single patty or double patty. That’s it. I do like the rather simplicity of it all. This can’t be said for their fries selection as they do have several varieties: plain, cheesy and one topped with sisig. If you don’t know what sisig, you’re missing out as it’s one of the best things you can eat! I got the double patty burger, the Hungry Burgz Double Burger, as well as some Sisig Fries. To round it off, I got myself a root beer. I usually try to get a diet soda or something like that but, hey! I’m already getting a healthy dose of fat from the Hungry Burgz Double Burger and the Sisig Fries. I think the sugar from the root beer would be the least of my problems after this meal!

Now, what you need to know about how Hungry Burgz prepared their burgers is that they actually used tried and true tested methods of making a smashed burger. They even have the little spinning wheel much fancier burger places use to butter up the buns and an actual weighted grill press to smash the burgers! Despite being a small location, I love how they don’t skimp on the details! It also comes with shredded lettuce, a couple of huge tomato slices and two slices of cheese, one for each smashed burger patty.

Looks bigger in real life

I will have to say that Hungry Burgz’ Hungry Burgz Double Burger is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. And, as I’ve mentioned at the start of this post, I have eaten a lot of burgers in my time! The smashed burger patties have a nice crust to them, giving them that nice char flavor smashed burger patties are known for. The cheese is slightly melted so it holds its shape without becoming a gooey mess. The tomatoes were nice and firm and, surprisingly, I like the shredded lettuce. It makes eating lettuce much easier as you don’t have to bite down hard so you don’t accidentally pull out the entire leaf! And the bun was nicely toasted on the inside, ensuring it would hold up without disintegrating.

If I did have to nitpick on the Hungry Burgz Double Burger, I would have to say the sauce doesn’t really do much for it. It’s nice and tangy and it does have a nice spice to excite the taste buds a bit. But in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t really enhance the burger’s flavor all that much. At the same time, though, it doesn’t detract from how good it is as well. So, ultimately, it’s nice that’s it there.

Now, despite the burger coming off rather small in the picture, it’s actually pretty substantial. As it was pretty filling, it did make eating the Sisig Fries I ordered with it difficult to finish. If there’s one thing you have to know about sisig, it’s very fatty. It tastes great but it is fatty, making it rather heavy in your stomach. So, I will say the Sisig Fries, even with that comment, is good. Not great, but good. I can’t really say how much my opinion on it was affected by how heavy it was so take the following comments I have about it with a grain of salt.

Making me burp just looking at it.

The fries themselves were just okay. They just had enough crisp to them but lacked the crunchy coating to really hold up to the coating of cheese and sisig fat to not become soggy. The cheese sauce was, like the fries, just okay. There wasn’t really anything special to it. But the sisig Hungry Burgz used to top off their Sisig Fries were great! There were the required crispy bits to make it fun to eat and, as they were pretty fatty, very flavorful. However, I can’t really say they blended well together. They still tasted like individual parts rather than one dish. Still, they were pretty good and, maybe next time, I’ll just get the plain fries instead as, like I said, this felt really heavy after the Hungry Burgz Double Burger.

One thing I haven’t discuss is how much this entire meal came to. The Hungry Burgz Double Burder, Sisig Fries and the root beer came to roughly P340 Philippine pesos. If you convert it to USD, that comes to around $5 to $6! That’s a very good deal, especially when you consider how good the burger is and how filling the Sisig Fries were!

It’s nice to see this year’s #NationalHamburgerMonth is starting off on a high note as, all-in-all, Hungry Burgz deserves a lot of accolades as their Hungry Burgz Double Burger is simply phenomenal! It is something I will be going back for once again for sure. But I might just skip the Sisig Fries, though.
