Predicting Future DLC Characters for Street Fighter 6

We’re already halfway done with the DLC character roster for this season of Street Fighter 6. The game has become a huge hit for Capcom so it’s a safe bet that the Season 1 DLC characters won’t be the last. Here’s the thing, though. I actually think the folks over at Capcom have mapped out who else is going to be returning in later seasons of Street Fighter 6. Some characters have slyly been hinted at if you play through the game’s World Tour mode as well as the Arcade stories in Fighting Ground.

Undoubtedly, there will be new faces entering the fray so I can’t really predict those guys. However, I do have a sense that some returning faces will throw their hat into the ring in the future. So, let’s go speculate which returning World Warriors will be entering the world of Street Fighter 6 in the future.

#1 M. Bison

The first person I would say is a no-brainer but may upset some folks because the Dictator of Shadaloo is supposed to have perished in Street Fighter V. Well, that’s canonically true but you can’t keep a good Psycho Power purveyor down, can you?

While Ryu may have destroyed M. Bison’s body in Street Fighter V, the Shadaloo leader has a habit of resurrecting himself even after such an event. Based on the lore, M. Bison would regularly infuse a part of his soul in unsuspecting individuals. His soul can then be transferred to another body where he can continue his dictatorial ways. This wouldn’t be the first time he’s done it as he did need a new body after Akuma wrecked him at the end of Super Street Fighter II Turbo.

Street Fighter canon does drop a few hints that his soul and his Psycho Power does live on. Ed, who is the next DLC character to be released in Street Fighter 6 as of this writing, was initially a replacement body for M. Bison so it’s possible he’ll be the new vessel. JP, one of Street Fighter 6’s new fighters, used to be Shadaloo CFO and also has control over Psycho Power. Once again, he could be holding a part of M. Bison’s soul without even knowing.

Here’s the thing: I don’t think M. Bison will be appearing anytime soon. Capcom is saving him much later in Street Fighter 6’s lifespan as it would be a huge deal. I’m actually predicting his return will lead to a huge update in the World Tour mode as there might even be a storyline where JP and M. Bison either start fighting or working together. Or maybe M. Bison will start a war right smack in the middle of Metro City, with him taking on Ed’s New Shadaloo army.

#2 “Seth

The main villain of Street Fighter IV, Seth was linked strongly to M. Bison and Shadaloo as he too was built to be a replacement body for M. Bison. He became the leader of SIN, a splinter division of Shadaloo. Seth’s main gimmick was to mimic the special moves of the other Street Fighter characters. He was eventually defeated by M. Bison himself after the Dictator was brought back to life.

Although Shadaloo was destroyed, SIN seems to have survived. In Street Fighter 6, there’s an organization called SiRN, which suspiciously sounds like SIN but with an additional R inserted in the middle. Besides developing weird machines, such as killer roomba and psychotic refrigerators, they’re also behind creating androids who can mimic the abilities of the World Warriors, which is basically Seth’s old gimmick!

In fact, during the latest DLC update, a new World Tour side quest called the The Secret Sentient Sidekick becomes available. In this side story, your Avatar once again goes into the SiRN building where a new android body is running amuck and beating up random people. Once you beat the rogue robot, you befriend it and you can return to fight it over and over again.

This does look like Capcom is planting the seeds for Seth’s return. I do think it won’t be the Seth we knew. Like in Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, “Seth” got a new female humanoid body but still retained his personality. This new robot “friend” could be a new “Seth” prototype in the works and you’re going to help in its creation.

#3 Makoto

There are a lot of characters who were mentioned throughout Street Fighter 6’s World Tour mode. We got to see the Walmart versions of Balrog, Vega and Sagat in Nayshall during one of the sidequests. Carlos Miyamoto from Final Fight helps out during one of the side quests. This gives them an outside chance of being playable but I don’t think that’ll be the case. Rather, Capcom is going to add someone who was repeatedly hinted at throughout World Tour mode but never was mentioned by name. That would be Makoto from Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike.

For a lot of fans, this may sound like wishful thinking as Makoto is one of the more popular characters in the Street Fighter games. However, it just may be more than that as Makoto is actually referenced a lot throughout World Tour mode. Over at Urban Park, you can talk to a bunch of martial arts practitioners and they mention how the Rindoukan Dojo is the only place where you can study karate nowadays, a possible reference to Makoto’s ending.

Also, in World Tour mode, you get a side mission called The Fighty Mighty. With this quest, you’re tasked with going around Metro City and, later on, Nayshall to find other fighters who are interested in improving their hand-to-hand combat skills. Sure, you face off against some Breath of Fire knockoffs and even the Andore family from Final Fight. But the earliest fighters you run across are actually, once again, a reference to Makoto’s ending as a couple of them are the ones she beats up during her fight montage!
