Episode 597: Robin’s Five Hopes and Dreams for 2025

Hiya!

Call it serendipity that this post will come out on the very first day of 2025! I would say, while a lot of things did happen in 2024, it was a pretty uneventful year for me. Last year, I had a few hopes and dreams for the previous year and, well, none of it happened. Okay, I can’t really hold into account if Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth‘s story was good as I haven’t played it because I still don’t own a PlayStation 5 so I can play it! I also given up on getting to Master rank on Street Fighter 6 and Capcom didn’t add a single Final Fight character to Street Fighter 6’s Season 2. Then again, including Terry Bogard and, later on, Mai Shiranui is a stroke of genius on their part! Regarding Disney+ getting more WWE shows, well, that’s a total bust! Congrats to Netflix, though, for reeling in Monday Night Raw and I presume other WWE shows?

Okay, I’m 0 of 5 regarding my wants and needs for 2024. That won’t stop me from making a list for 2025! After all, hoping and dreaming is just an aspiration, right? So, let’s got check out my personal hopes and dreams for 2025!

#1 World Peace

Okay, this is really wishful thinking on my part but I do want to start out my list for my hopes and dreams for 2025 with something we all can agree on. Okay, maybe 98% of you can agree on because you know there are going to be that really small minority of people who would choose violence instead.

The thing is I know this won’t happen in 2025 or perhaps in my lifetime. With the way things are going, it might even get worse! So, okay, world peace is just a pipe dream but, at the very least, perhaps we can try to be just a little bit more understanding. I know we all have our differences but why do those things have to be what we usually focus on instead of what we have in common? I mean, we don’t have to do it all the time but just enough to remember we’re all people, right?

Okay, world peace may be aiming a little too high. So, let me revise it to a hope people can be just a little bit more understanding with each other so we don’t have to feel like “the other side” is the enemy. I’m still keeping this on the list as “world peace” because, hey, you gotta dream big!

#2 Finally getting a PlayStation 5

Has it really been 4 years since Sony released the PlayStation 5 into the world? This is possibly the longest I’ve gone without owning a current generation gaming console! Then again, this is my own fault as I kept getting into my own head and predicting some kind of buyer’s remorse once I dropped the chunk of change required to purchase one. I have been anticipating price drops because of things like the redesign to the PlayStation 5 “Slim” and the PlayStation 5 Pro. The sad thing is, when Sony does order a reduction in the price, I’m always too busy to rush to the store to get one! Stupid work!

Well, this is a new year and I am fully determined to finally bite the bullet and get a PlayStation 5! Things do seem to be settling down at my work so I should be able to take a breath and mosey on down to my local DataBlitz and get a somewhat not-so brand spanking new PlayStation 5, the one with the disc drive, mind you.

Still, how much do you want to bet Sony will announce the PlayStation 6 a month or so after I get one? It does feel inevitable….

#3 Start playing Tekken 8

When it comes to fighting games, I do believe Street Fighter 6 is king of the mountain. However, that never made me look down upon other fighting games as I do know they can be fun to play. Well, I’ve heard a lot of good things about Bandai Namco‘s flagship fighter, Tekken 8. Okay, that’s a lie. I’ve also seen a lot of good things about Tekken 8! Even though I don’t have any real knowledge on how to play it, I do like to look at the Tekken tournament scene and they can be pretty hype… even if I don’t really know what’s happening.

So, in connection with me owning a PlayStation 5 this year, I plan to also get me a copy of Tekken 8. Although I don’t see myself going online for matches like I do with Street Fighter 6 with it, I have learned the game is packed with single player content. Things like the game’s cinematic Story mode as well as the Arcade Quest mode, which is meant to teach beginners such as myself, should give me more than enough stuff to enjoy and give me time to figure out if I wanna duke it out with other online warriors in the future.

#4 Earning some passive income

I have been working at a desk job for almost a decade now and, while I do find it rewarding at times, you can use those feelings to buy stuff! Like most people, I work at a job to earn money. It’s how I play to earn enough cold hard cash to eventually buy a PlayStation 5 and a copy of Tekken 8. While I do earn enough to live comfortably, I’m not getting any younger and I do believe it’s time to find a way to get more money without doing more work. So, in 2025, I think it’s time to find a way to make some passive income.

This is actually going to be a really big task for me as, in all honesty, I have no idea on how to do this! Passive income is like a foreign language to me as I don’t know anything about it. So, this year, I do plan to devote some time during the early part of 2025 to learn some strategies, such as the stock market or maybe even buying crypto.

I don’t take to dive in headfirst and quit my current job to just focus on making passive income, though. This is going to be more of a side hustle and I won’t be putting all my savings into projects which will hopefully make me money. Rather, I will be devoting some of my savings, not a lot buy a healthy amount, to this endeavor and see where things go. Wish me luck!

#5 Write a book or a script

The very first post I wrote for this blog happened more than a decade ago. That means I’ve been writing and posting something at least once a week for that amount of time! That’s an incredible amount of experience, I would say. So, maybe it’s time to expand my writing horizons a little bit in 2025 and write something much lengthier than just a blog post. Maybe it’s time to put something together like a book or a movie script?

This is probably going to be a bigger endeavor than learning how to make some passive income! This isn’t just going to be me doing a little research, investing in something and waiting for the dough to pour in. No, this will take much more time and a whole lot more effort! However, I have had some story ideas percolating in my brain ever since I was a teen. I have even visualized these story ideas with things like proper blocking, what music should be playing and whatnot. So, why not try to finally put them to paper and make it a little more concrete rather than the abstract images in my head?

Now, realistically, I don’t see myself writing a novel which will be on the New York Times’ Bestseller list or put together a script that’ll win multiple awards at the Oscars Awards (though it would be neat if they did). I would like to start out small and maybe do something like self-publish my works on a different website or something like that. I just like to try out something new. Call it a midlife crisis?

BONUS: Getting a love life

Hey, like I said, I’m not getting any younger! It’s time to sow those oats or the female equivalent to that statement?

Byee!
