Hiya!
Well, well, well. Capcom finally decided they wanted some more money. Even though Street Fighter 6‘s sales has reached 5 million since its release a couple of years back, Capcom decided they wanted to make more money. So much more money. I mean, you can’t tell me that wasn’t the thinking when they decided to make some of the Street Fighter 6 characters wear swimsuits for their Outfit 4 DLC costumes!
The issue is, of course, these new costume DLCs cost real money. Each new costume will cost at least (Oh, we’ll get to that) 300 Fighter Coins. Capcom only allows you to buy these Fighter Coin packs in weird multiples, with the cheapest pack containing 250 Fighter coin, which is really devious of them. Also, the cheapest pack costs around $7 US, so they aren’t exactly cheap already. A lot of us aren’t made out of money so we do have to be a little more choosey with which particular costumes to get.
This is why I’m making this post. I’ve looked through all of the costumes from the Shop viewer and I decided to make a guide regarding which costumes are going to be worth your valuable Fighter Coins. The way I’ve evaluated them is going to be determined by a few criteria. First, how gorgeous these new outfits look. This also includes how the other color variant look because you’re not just getting one color; you’re getting 10 of them but you still want most of them to look good. Second is how they work on the character. It has to reflect their personalities well or else they would look out of place. Finally, we do have to check out how they stack up to their current costumes. I mean, if they have a better outfit, why bother with getting an inferior one, right?
Oh, I also have to mention my rating system! Instead of giving them a numerical value, my rating system is going to be more focused on which Outfit 4 costumes you should buy. The 1st “rank” would be Take My Fight Money! and this means this is a must-buy costume because it is that good. The “rank” lower than that would be If You Got Some Spare Change and this would be a worthy purchase but only if you have some leftover Fighter Coins because of the uneven Fighter Coin packs. The 3rd “rank” is If He/She Is Your Main as you should buy this outfit just because you main him or her. The last “rank” is You Lose! as there isn’t really a need to get this costume if you really analyze it.
Anyway, let’s go!
#1 Cammy
Yeah, we’re starting out strong right out of the gate with Cammy as this is probably the one most people are looking at buying. The first time I saw it, I liked it… but I didn’t love it. Granted, there is a lot of things to love if you’re of the male persuasion and, well, even if you’re a girl like me, you still gotta admire what Cammy is packing here! Capcom put a lot of detail into this costume from the tan lines and the straw hat. The thing is I just didn’t like the various accoutrements, specifically the belt-thigh pack. I get she’s sporty and likes to be ready for anything. It just didn’t fit the skimpy two-piece bikini she was sporting, in my opinion.

I was all set to give Cammy the If You Got Spare Change rank but that changed when I looked at the other colors she got with her Outfit 4. Wow! Most of the alternate colors just worked! I just love how her two-piece bikini just pops because of how Capcom used mostly used bright colors to contrast with her usually tanned skin tone in this costume! I also love how, just to be a little different made Cammy pretty pale to pair with the black version of this costume as it makes the bikini more prominent! I do wish they did more with the straw hat but, as it would take away from the bikini, not touching it might have been the right decision. So, the various colors definitely ups the score.

#2 Luke
I have yet to be impressed by any of Luke’s costumes. You would think he would get some really nice ones as he’s literally the one on the cover of the game! So, that does give his Outfit 4 a leg up because I do think this lifeguard/surfer dude look suits him and it does look cool. It does share a lot of similarities to his Outfit 3, which is just his Street Fighter V outfit, as this is basically Luke with his shirt off. Sure, he still has that ridiculous Wattaburger tattoo on his chest and the obnoxious huge star on his delts. However, he got some laser removal for those teeny stars on his forearms! Yay!

I do like the more chill vibe Luke has here and it suits his new himbo personality. I also love the big shades and the off kilter cap. However, I don’t like some of his extra colors in Outfit 4. For one thing, I don’t get why the Wattaburger tattoo changes colors. Does he use a neon green highligher to draw over it so it’ll match his neon green trunks? The purple version makes it look like he’s trying too hard as well but the one with the pink trunks and the blackout shades are a vibe. Generally, the colors are pretty hit-or-miss. Still, it’s pretty good overall.

#3 Chun-Li
I’ve had very mixed reactions regarding Chun-Li Street Fighter 6’s previous outfits. This is especially true for her Outfit 3. I will admit the idea of her 3rd costume is neat but it was just a little too frilly and I didn’t like her hair. That is definitely not the case for Chun-Li’s Outfit 4! Wowza! This is a brilliantly designed swimsuit that suits the First Lady of Fighting Games! Capcom did a lot of things right here! From the homages to her original costume with print design on that rather tasteful one-piece number she’s sporting to the way her hair is pulled up into buns, it looks fantastic! Also, putting her on a very high-cut one-piece just works for Chun-Li! It’s modest but still sexy as it accentuates her huge thighs and shows a modest amount of skin. This really suits the mature single girl vibe Chun-Li has.

I also really love the various jewelry and accessories as they’re very grand but tasteful as the same time. Even the little gold belt around her waist is perfectly placed to accentuate her waist! When it comes to the different colors, most of them work. There are a couple of misses with the rather boring brown version and the black one with the gyaru look is very out of place. Those are just minor gaffes when you compare to what they did right with this, though. Easily a must-buy!

#4 Manon
Most of Manon’s costumes have been pretty good. Oddly enough, I’ve always thought her weakest one is her default judo outfit. So, Manon’s swimsuit outfit has some tough competition right from the start. Her one-piece swimwear looks good but super impractical as that front cutout would make it just not work in rea life. She’d have all her naughty bits sprawling out the instant she did one of her ballerina kicks or even breathed funny! Thankfully, we’re not looking at realism but the lack of realism does make it look weird. I do love the translucent wrap Manon wears around her shoulders as it’s a very nice touch to make her look more majestic even while just wearing a one-piece to go to the pool.

I do wish Capcom decided to make her look more flamboyant, though. She should’ve been accessorized to the hilt! Oh, it would look impractical on a swimsuit but have you seen Manon’s Outfit 2? That works because it was made for Manon! The sunglasses are a nice touch and the hair cut looks nice but she should’ve been given a much more bombastic design! What’s really distressing is the alternate colors for her Outfit 4 are kind of a letdown as well. I do like the all-white number, the more monochrome one with her sporting the platinum blonde hair and the one with the pink and baby blue colors. The rest are just bleh. Very disappointing and I am very sad I have to give Manon the lowest available rating.

#5 Jamie
Jamie has always had some really good threads as all of his outfits look really good and suit his personality. So, his Outfit 4 has to be outstanding and it does look Capcom did a good job with it as well… but they did overlook something major with its design. Before I do talk about that, let me comment on the actual fit. I really like the beach vibe it has going for it. The board shorts are an inspired take and the patterns on it works with Jamie’s more boisterous and loud sense of style. My major problem with it is the vest because it doesn’t take into account one of Jamie’s main gameplay mechanics: the Devil Within drink system.

You know how Jamie has 4 drink levels and, if he manages to get to his final form, his hair explodes and his shirt pops open? Well, in his Outfit 4, he already has the vest unbuttoned! That kind of removes the dramatic effect. Okay, his hair still goes super wild but I like the shirt explosion because of how it represents how he’s now bursting with power at that level! Capcom could’ve given him something like a tower around his waist and it would fly off once he hits Drink Level 4 or something. It’s a good thing the alternate colors are works, saving it from being at the bottom but I can’t help but think this should’ve been higher if they worked in the exploding vest gimmick he has with his other costumes.

#6 Kimberly
The Ninjastar has always had some really cool threads so Kimberly’s Outfit 4 has to do this as well. I do find it weird she would decide to wear a kind of zip-up crop rash vest that doesn’t exactly follow the same color scheme as her two-piece bikini. However, Kimberly does manage to make it work. It manages to show off her athletic body while also still showing her own sense of street style. Sure, it doesn’t really make sense where she would be packing her spray cans in this outfit but who cares! It looks fun and sporty!

Unfortunately, there are a few things I don’t really like with her new look. For one, I don’t like the headband. While Capcom made sure to color coordinate it with all of her Outfit 4 alternate colors, it doesn’t accentuate her face well and makes it look small because of how huge it is! I know she already has a visor in her Outfit 2 but they could’ve used something like that and I think it would’ve worked better. Also, a lot of her alternate colors for this outfit are atrocious! Although there are a couple of good ones, like the one with the red rash top, white top and black bottom, as well as the all black one, the other ones kind of make her look trashy instead of sporty. This is a pass for me but, if you main her, you’ll probably get more value out of this.

#7 AKI
We finally come to the final summer/beach/swimsuit Outfit 4 of the list but AKI is not the final one on the list as we do have someone else who most people expected to get a swimsuit costume but didn’t. Anyway, let’s talk AKI first. AKI is always an out there character but, even still, I have no idea why she would decide to wear a sheer nightgown and wraparound underwear to the beach. Also, is she all bandaged up? What’s the deal? Did she think she was dressing for the beach or Halloween? Although I find it creepy, I do think the creepiness suits AKI to a tee. So, I gotta give some extra points for that! I also have to give more bonus points because I never thought I would ever see AKI let her hair down… and she looks gorgeous with that style!

Unfortunately, I will be docking off some of those points because the majority of AKI’s alternate colors just suck! Her standard all white looks great but, it turns out, once you add color to it, everything starts to go downhill! The red clothing and black hair and bandages is awful… and that’s the 1st alternate color! The only one which I would deem passable would be the blue one just because it makes her look like Kaine from NieR Replicant. I’m not sure if that was intentional but, even with that, it still doesn’t look good. The only thing saving this from being at the bottom is, even with the awful alternate color schemes, that’s still a very AKI thing to do! So, once again, all the mishmash of colors kind of make sense because of how weird she is!

#8 Juri
The final entry on this list is Juri. Although she is getting a brand spanking new Outfit 4, she’s not in the trailer as she gets the honor of branded as the collaboration character with aepsa. What is an aespa, you may ask? It’s a K-Pop group I’ve never heard of, that’s what! I’m sorry but I’m simply not up to date with my K-Pop lore. I did try listening to a couple of their songs and… they’re fine, I guess. Anyway, I bet the reason why Juri was slapped on this collab is because Juri is Korean and aespa is a K-Pop group so… yeah.
As such, Juri is kind of a special case. She’s not lumped in together with the other characters as this new outfit was released a couple of months before that. Being a part of the special collab, Juri’s Outfit 4 is also a little bit more expensive. While the rest costs 300 Fighter Coins, Juri’s “aespa inspired” Outfit 4 is priced at 350 Fighter Coins! It’s only available for a limited time as this will stop being on the Street Fighter 6 in-game store only until July 3 of next year! So, this new outfit better be extra special!
Hint: it’s not. Not at the least.
I have several problems with Juri’s Outfit 4. The first is the price. I honestly don’t understand why the collab outfits costs more. I know there are probably licensing fees but why would the other end of the collab want their collab product to be more expensive? That only makes people second guess if they want to shell out more for it! Not only that, she already has a kickass Outfit 3 that, not only suits her personality, it’s also much better looking that this vanilla outfit! Buy that instead!
Second is the design. It looks a lot like Juri’s Outfit 1! It’s just a tighter fitting version of her original outfit! In fact, I think her original outfit is much better! At least her normal outfit has the spider motif! The aespa one has an… aespa motif with teeny spiderwebs on the side? Oof! It makes her look like she’s wearing a bad Spider-Gwen cosplay! The hair is also really dumb looking. Sure, Juri’s double spikes are also kind of stupid but it’s much better than having a jagged hairpin right in front of your face!

Finally, the worst thing about the aespa inspired outfit is Juri is wearing shoes! Shoes! I know Juri has worn shoes in a lot of her alternate outfits in Street Fighter 5. For some reason, this just irks me a lot more here. It just feels off for some reason! Maybe it’s because, if you go to the Street Fighter 6 Store and take a preview of Juri wearing this, it looks like she’s looking at the bottom of her shoe like she stepped on dog doodoo or something similarly icky!
I don’t really see a reason why anyone, even Juri mains should get this. It doesn’t fit with her style and it doesn’t come close to even her original outfits. Couple that with the heftier price tag and you get a big fat pass on this one from me!
